I don't eat breakfast anymore, since I don't have time. But when I did one constant was milk, either chocolate, strawberry, that weird vanilla period, with coffee or tea or just plain old milk. On the rare occasion that I get up early enough, I make myself some scrambled eggs and eat them as a sandwich.

I’ve never had vanilla milk. You just blew my mind.

Greek yogurt, every day.

Yogurt is excellent on pepper juice burns. There are probiotics in certain Greek yogurts that balance the flora and fauna in your stomach to such a degree that it stimulates mental health, in some cases curing depression and anxiety.

thoughts on breakfast cereals? favorites? pros? cons? ups downs? 2% milk? whole? skim?

I have a fickle relationship with cereal and I don’t eat it much. It’s quick in a pinch but it’s not filling and makes me feel like I’m digesting cardboard. But there is nothing more satisfying than pouring the perfect milk to cereal ratio. I also think drinking the leftover milk in a bowl is nauseating. Always go with whole milk, it’s the tastiest and healthiest choice, unless you’re vegan, and in that case I’d go with almond milk. I like cookie crisps, peanut butter puffs, and raisin bran.

a real big three minute omelet with mexican cheese, chorizo, shredded cilantro, and chopped green onions, topped with sriracha and sometimes sour cream.. this is the only breakfast i make ever. it feels good and is easy and costs no money but does get tiresome to eat every day.

Cilantro is called coriander in Australia. Some people’s genetic makeup causes cilantro to taste like soap or chalk. I’ve been told that if you eat with the hand that is not your dominant one, food will taste differently. It has something to do with creating new electrical synapses in the brain, causing you to process taste differently.

What's the proper term for toast with a hole that has a fried egg in it? Also, how come mine never look like the breakfast pictures, but more like a toast-with-egg clone begging to be killed? What's the secret?

You’re talking about toad in the hole, also known as eggy in a basket. I’d suggest using a thick, hearty bread so it doesn’t get all floppy and wet. Start out with medium heat but turn it to low when you flip the bread. And when you make the hole to crack the egg into, use a cookie cutter instead of tearing with your fingers. The cutter will crimp the bread and make a solid hold for the egg.

Oh i forgot, there is butter on it too.

Another great thing to make during breakfast is a roux. A roux is equal parts butter or fat and flour. It’s very southern. You can use it as a soup starter, throw it in a biscuit recipe, or sauté vegetables in it. Once you’re done making bacon, wait for the fat to cool, but not congeal. Pour it into a canning jar through a strainer and then add the flour. Stick it in the fridge and look forward to the next time you’ll be making breakfast!

It's a rip off of from a place called Sarkis Cafe up north in Evanston around where I grew up. But its easy to make at home for breakfast everyday. The Bacon Loreta. An Italian style loaf of bread with crispy bacon and provolone cheese melted together with a hearty mix diced onions, red and green peppers and tomatoes on top with a dash of Lowery's seasoned salt and pepper. With hash browns on the side of course.

If you sliced the bread and put it in the oven with Parmesan and white cheddar while you cook the bacon. The bread will be crispy, so it won’t get soggy during your meal. Perfect for a breakfast sandwich, or for sopping. Also, for the beer lovers, a great breakfast beer is Boddingtons. My father’s beer wisdom is something I live by; “it’s not what time you start drinking, it’s how long you’ve been up.”

stale donuts and burnt coffee from the nearest minimart

Remember when you go to grab the creamer in the coffee condiment tier that the original, vanilla, and hazelnut flavors all have similar colored tops. Don’t mix them up, check twice. Also, if you microwave the doughnut for 40 seconds, it will taste less stale.

My hot sauces preferences:
The best one out there is Louisiana Swamp Scum. The label is great, the sauce is green, and it’s a good taste without being overwhelming.

I also just discovered El Yucateco Xxxtra Hot Sauce. It’s killer and exxxtremely spicy, so watch out.

If you want to do fried chicken on biscuits, Frank’s Red Hot is pretty choice, but I wouldn’t recommend it on just eggs.

I’ve also been buying dried chilies at the Mexican produce market. You can make your own hot sauce by throwing a few of those (de-stemmed -and cored) in the blender with a little bit of water and salt.

Grated and fried potatoes, vegetation of some kind, fried tortilla strips, cheese, and bacon (or spam) all mixed together with scrambled eggs. Pile the mess into another tortilla and smother with garlic hot sauce. Hot, black coffee is also required.

You must have to buy the biggest tortillas out there. I like flour tortillas for breakfast, unless you do a spicy shrimp scramble, and then I prefer corn. Another great thing in the morning is to dump half a packet of Swiss Miss in your coffee. It makes it creamy, although black coffee can’t be beat.

B.E.D. for me! Over easy egg cooked in the hole of an avocado. Potatoes and onions topped with the other half of the avocado.

Cooked IN an avocado? What is this black magic? I hope this breakfast comes with coffee and some hot sauce. And for the record, sriracha sauce is over rated.

ALMOND CROISSANTS AND AMERICAAAANAAAAS FOR LIFE. i am addicted.

Put a spoonful of condensed milk in your americano. It’s the best thing you’ll ever taste in your life. I also recommend dunking the almond croissant in said coffee. It’s baller.

Frosted flakes with no milk n’ half of a one day old Dr. Pepper. MUST GO BUY FOOD ):

No matter what you do, never substitute orange juice for milk in your cereal. It’s one of the more disgusting things you could do to yourself. I highly recommend buying Cookie Crisps in the future, they’re good even without milk. Did you try the freezer? I can almost guarantee you there’s something breakfast worthy in there you just forgot about.

this morning it was a medium tea and two jelly donuts from Dunkin Donuts. sorta boring - but I'm not that exciting in real life anyhow.

If you drink two pots of oolong tea a day it helps you feel more energized and it drastically improves your skin. It’s an all around healthy and delicious choice. Raspberry jam is the best kind of filling in jelly doughnuts. I think I’d like to try blueberry for a change, though.

today i'm having peanut butter on toast and a cup of coffee like usual, since my boyfriend moved out. he used to make me eggs benedict, even made the hollandaise sauce in the blender. he took the blender with him, too

Try tahini and honey on toast, it mixes things up a bit. And if you’re ever craving eggs, crack one over low heat in butter and cover until the whites aren’t clear anymore. It’s not eggs benedict but its a damn tasty egg. When I moved out of a boyfriends house he kept the cast iron and the knives, so I couldn’t cook steak and eggs. Or cut anything, for that matter.

My Internet is down so I can’t post photos of breakfast every day. In solidarity, I’ll be skipping breakfast myself, and instead I’ll be accepting emails where YOU tell ME what your breakfast is every day. Anon breakfasts welcome.
